Market Harborough Choral Society presents its first concert of the 2024/25 season at the Methodist Church, Northampton Road, Market Harborough at 7.30 pm on Saturday, 9 November.

Entitles “Music for Remembrance” it fits in with the national theme of the weekend remembering those who have gone before us.

Choir Chairman, Clive Hookins said “The main work in the concert is the beautifully evocative modern Requiem ‘Eternal Light’ composed in 2008 by Howard Goodall who will be familiar to most people as the composer of the theme tune to ‘The Vicar of Dibley’.

"The Requiem borrows, among other sources, from war poetry as well as addressing the subject from the point of view of those who are left behind. We have a very talented team of soloists and the organ accompaniment of Christopher Ouvry-Johns, Director of Music at Leicester Cathedral is sure to enhance the evening’s performance.

"Other pieces in the concert are equally beautiful. In the David Bednall item “The Waters of Love” the choir is accompanied by the harp playing of Aiofe Miralles which will greatly add to the beauty of the piece.”
