Lubenham Scarecrow Festival in 2016.

This year’s Lubenham Scarecrow Festival has been called off due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The organisers of the very popular annual event have “announced with sadness that it will not now take place as originally planned in September”.

They are asking residents not to put out scarecrows on the festival weekend “to ensure that visitors are not encouraged to visit” the historic village.

A Scarecrow Festival spokesman said: “We were looking forward to putting on the 21st festival in 2020.

“But we are now looking forward instead to welcoming visitors to our 21st event in 2021.”
