At least 6,000 people got a taste of wonderful food in glorious sunshine at the Great British Food Festival at Kelmarsh Hall at the weekend.

Organisers say about 3,000 attended on Saturday and 3,000-plus on Sunday at the hall.

Event manager Verity Sharples said: “It was a great success.

“We had beautiful weather the whole weekend, with just a very, very few spots of rain.

“It was slightly too hot if anything!”

She added that it was the festival’s first time at Kelmarsh Hall, but the team was now keen to return in 2017.

Chief executive officer at Kelmarsh Lesley Denton said: “It was a really nice festival with a good atmosphere.

“Ooh yes, we’d definitely be delighted to have the festival back next year!”

The festival featured a large mix of local and regional food and drink traders, and a busy schedule of events.

Chef demonstrations were led by Great British Bake Off contestants Miranda Gore Browne and Luis Troyano.

Other events included the popular Men v Food challenges, a competitive “Cake Off”, Artisan Talks, Kids’ Cookery Classes and foraging walks.

The food festival pops up at different venues throughout the year.
