Christmas musical classics from around the world and across the centuries will be performed in Harborough next week .

The talented Harborough Collective classical music group are performing the Ring Out Wild Bells concert on Monday, December 22.

And the collective will be joined for the night by a special guest; internationally-acclaimed harpist Eleanor Turner.

Catherine Leech, manager of the Harborough Concerts series and The Harborough Collective group, said: “It’s going to be the perfect start to the Christmas week.

“The Harborough Collective will be festively lit by candlelight and performing some of the most beautiful and popular Christmas music ever.

“The collective will weave an imaginative tapestry of festive-inspired music and words from across the world and across the centuries.”

The venue, Market Harborough Congregational Church, in High Street, will also be lit by candlelight.

The night will feature Medieval carols, new versions of traditional Christmas songs, beautiful baroque masterpieces and folk-influenced improvisations.

There will be pieces by Bach, Dickens, Holst, Cole Porter, TS Elliot and Mozart.

The programme will include Vivaldi’s Winter, Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, Debussy’s The Snow is Dancing, Prokofiev’s Troika, Bach’s Air on the G String, classics Silent Night and In the Bleak Midwinter, and more.

And to top it off the Emerson and Wests delicatessen of Northampton Road, Market Harborough, will be providing some home-cooked mince pies for the audience to enjoy during the interval.

Tickets cost £15 or £12 for concessions.

Seats can be reserved by emailing info@harboroughconcerts.co.uk or by calling 07903 020 101.

Under-18s who are accompanied get in for free. The concert starts at 7.30pm with doors opening at 6.45pm.

Meanwhile, the group’s candlelit Winter Cabaret concert held last month was hailed as a great success.

“The audience absolutely loved the new setting with the cabaret-style tables and a bar,” said Catherine.
