A chaotic comedy featuring a host of eccentric characters is the next play being staged by a district amateur drama group.

Billesdon Drama Society, which celebrated its 80th anniversary last year, is staging the Lynn Brittney comedy Old Actors Never Die...They Simply Lose the Plot.

Its three-night run at the village’s Coplow Centre in Uppingham Roadopens next Thursday, March 26, and continues until next Saturday, March 28.

The curtain goes up on all the shows at 7.30pm with the doors opening at 7pm.

The play is set at the Mount Home for Retired Theatricals and the plot revolves around the attempted rescue of the philandering ex-husband of the three Mrs Sullivans.

It introduces the audience to Russian gangsters, a Master of the Universe and a bit-part player who has 212 films under his belt.

It becomes a truly daft journey into the world of eccentric luvvies that provides some superb comic roles.

Simon Hoare, a spokesman for the society, said: “The result is hilariously chaotic, and will hopefully leave you chuckling all the way home.”

Tickets cost £7.50 and are available from Chris and John Fort on 0116 259 6832.

The box office is at 5 Leicester Road, Billesdon, from 10am to 11am, and from 5pm to 6pm from Monday to Fridays, or from 10am to 11am on Saturdays.

Cheques should be made payable to Billesdon Drama Society.

People can also download a postal booking from the society’s website at www.billesdondrama.co.uk
