The concert takes place at All Saints Church in Brixworth on Sunday starting at 6pm.

Written in 1791, Mozart’s famous Requiem remains one of his most popular classical pieces, featuring in everything from the X-Men 2 movie, where it soundtracks the compelling scene where the Nightstalker breaks into the White House, to the fun O2 Be More Dog adverts.

Still unfinished at the time of the composer’s death, mysteries surrounding the piece have spawned a book, a play, and the well-known film Amadeus.

The Harborough Singers will give a rare performance of Carl Czerny’s arrangement of the piece.

Czerny’s version was written 30 years after Mozart’s death. It had a reputation for being difficult. Nevertheless, it was much admired and was performed to great acclaim in 1827. After that, it mysteriously disappeared.

Recently, a manuscript version was re-discovered in a library in Czerny’s native Slovakia. The piece is now being revived with much fanfare around the world.
