Music for all coming to Harborough

The Swing Museum will perform at St Dyonisius Church in Market Harborough on Saturday March 4. On the same day, The Strangers visit Welland Park Academy and the Helix Ensemble play Countesthorpe.The Swing Museum are a quartet performing hot club style swing from the 1930s and 40s.They have appeared throughout the country playing many international festivals and giving a concert for the national jazz archive in London last September.The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £8 on the door.The Strangers will be playing the many hits of The Shadows and will be mixing up the set with some big hit vocals from the fifties and sixties.The doors for this concert open at 7pm and all the proceeds from the evening will go to Cransley Hospice at Kettering.The tickets cost £12.50 plus a small charge for the on-line booking system.For more details or to book tickets in advance visit www.ticketsource.co.uk/the-strangers And for those who love classical music, the Helix Ensemble will entertain the audience with music from different eras and decades. Helix Ensemble is a chamber orchestra of experienced musicians from around the East MidlandsThey will play Johann Christian Bach’s best known Symphony Op 18 No 2, which is in three movements and was originally written as the overture to his opera Lucio Silla. His more famous father J S Bach wrote the famous Concerto for two violins and this inspired English composer Vaughan Williams to write Concerto Accademico for solo violin, which will be played.Tickets for the concert are £10 and accompanied children can get in for free and they are available on the door, They can be booked in advance at a cheaper rate of £8.
