You can log on to the venue’s website and watch ‘The Lockdown Review’ online for free as the theatre’s many creative stars have been working overtime.

John Foreman, who heads up the theatre as chairman of Market Harborough Drama Society, told the Harborough Mail: “The Lockdown Review has been written and performed by our members – and it’s a satirical look at life in Harborough under lockdown.

“The show runs for just over an hour and it’s being described as a cross between Monty Python and Not The Nine O’clock News.

“Please tune in and watch it – I’m sure that you’ll all enjoy it.”

John said it will be followed in October by ‘Old Smokey’.

This is a new play written and directed by member Arthur Aldrich (a published playwright).

“Old Smokey is performed, radio style, by theatre members and we are really looking forward to presenting it to the public of Harborough.

“And in December, just in time for Christmas, we will be putting on an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ famous ‘A Christmas Carol’, directed by Jan Wilson,” he said.

“All three will be available, free of charge, to the good people of Market Harborough (and beyond) via the Harborough Theatre website.”

Everyone involved with the theatre – which has been staging plays since 1947 – has also been working hard to boost a vital local charity.

“As a result of many charitable efforts at the theatre, we are pleased to have donated £325 to Harborough Jubilee Foodbank,” said John.

“Our beloved theatre will not be open until next February at the earliest as Covid-19 restrictions make it virtually impossible for productions to take place.

“But we will be doing all we can and working flat out in the meantime to entertain as many people right across Harborough as we can.”
