Market Harborough in Bloom is staging a masterclass in rose pruning for the public on Monday February 17.

The special session will start at 10am in the rose garden near Welland Park near the bowls club – and anyone can pop along.

Barbara Tallis, chair of Market Harborough in Bloom, said: “We’ve held these classes in previous years and they’ve always gone down well with local people.

“This will be the ideal opportunity to find out all you need to know about pruning and looking after your roses as we all look forward to spring.”

She said about 12-15 volunteers, who all know their onions, will be there on Monday to give you a hand.

“We’ll be only too happy to give you all the help, advice and guidance you need.

“It’s free, it’ll be hands on and we’d love to see you,” said Barbara.

“You’ll need to wear sturdy footwear and bring your own gardening gloves.

“We also have our own little compound so you’ll be able to enjoy a cuppa and a biscuit and a natter afterwards.

“So what better way could there be to start the week in Market Harborough?”

She is urging anyone who would like to go along to keep an eye on the weather as winter storms kick in.

“We’ll keep you posted on our Market Harborough in Bloom Facebook page if we do decide to postpone late on,” said Barbara.
