Harborough swimmers claim more than 100 personal bests

A total of 31 Harborough swimmers competed at the county championships - producing more than 100 personal best times between them.

The youngsters proved that hard work really does pay off in the pool as they impressed over the three weekends.

Alice Streeter produce 13 personal best times in events ranging from 50m right up to 1,500m, claiming five gold, five silver and one bronze medal in the process.

Charlie James continued to produce best times and gained three silver medals and two bronzes in the process.

Both swimmers will now continue to build on these results with a view to competing in the Midlands Championships at the end of April.

Josh Wellicome produced four personal best times over the series of weekends, also securing medals in the 100m individual medley, 100 backstroke and 50m butterfly.

Lara Sinclair-Banks produced best times in age for all five of her events, achieving medals in he 50m backstroke, 50m freestyle and 100m backstroke.

Harry Potter secured a silver medal in the 1,500m freestyle, made finals in four events and produced a total of seven personal best times.

Harry Fleet took on 17 events over the three weekends, producing an impressive 16 personal best times and making three finals in the process.

Some of the other personal best times were recorded by swimmers taking part in their first county championships: Freddie Brown (one), Oliver Dovey (one), Max Fletcher (five), Sam Gillespie (four), Ben Hyman (three), Dan Nothover (seven), Oliver Rowlands (one), Daniel Tompkins (two), Clay Tuffley-Steele (one), Sophie Barney (five), Hetty Blacstock-Brown (one), Erin Brazier (two), Eve Burton (six), Ellie Chinnock (six), Esme Durham (two), Lydia Finch (one), Charlotte Howe (one), Ivie Iyasere (six), Freya Johnson (one), Amelia Price (three), Thea Richards (four), Zoe Morgan-Williams (three).

Swimmers will compete at the City of Leicester open meet this weekend.
