Charlie and Alice lead the way at the open meet

Harborough swimmers travelled the short distance to Braunstone Leisure Centre in Leicester to compete in the City of Leicester Open Meet.

Alice Streeter and Charlie James, both competing for City of Leicester, continued to bring home the medals.

Alice took one gold, two silver and two bronzes, producing four personal best times.

Charlie claimed three silver and three bronze medals, achieving three personal best times in the process.

Josh Wellicome produced two personal best times over the weekend and took the bronze medal in the 50m freestyle.

Toby Fletcher showed true grit in his first open meet for the club, achieving personal best times in all five of his events.

Teammate Jacob Fleet continued to lower his times in five of his events over the weekend.

Harry Fleet continued recent good form to claim seven personal best times, Max Fletcher also producing some good form to claim three personal bests over the weekend.

During the meet best times also went to Zoe Morgan-Williams (one), Esme Durham (two), Dan Northover (three), Ivie Iyesere (five), Amelia Price (three), Alexa Parker (two), Libby Stevens (two), Max Johnson (two), Beth Northover (two), Ellie Chinnock (one) and Harry Potter (three).

Some of the swimmers braved the clubs 200m fly championship.

In the 13/14 years the girls’ event was won by Alice Streeter.

In second was Esme Durham.

Charlie James took the boys’ title with Harry Fleet second.

In the 15 and over age group, first in the boys’ category was Josh Wellicome.

Dan Northover finished second and Mark Kendall third.

The girls’ title was won by Lisa Trussler.

In second was Thea Richards.

Meanwhile, third place was secured by Charlotte Howe.
