UNDER the cosh Harborough Town did well to avoid double figures as they suffered a 6-1 battering at United Counties League high-fliers Holbeach United.

The gulf between the clubs was immediately evident as Holbeach pressed from the kick-off and took the lead as early as the third minute. The Tigers were four up after 30 minutes and netted twice more after the break. Ben Barton struck the solitary consolation.

Harborough are away to Spalding this Saturday (ko 3pm).

Desborough Town had mixed fortunes from their matches last week as they crashed at home to Blackstones on Saturday after a fine win at Shepshed in midweek.

Desborough twice came from behind at Shepshed to snatch maximum points, with goals from Joe Wright, Jack Burrows and Michael Byrne.

Desborough then lost 3-0 against a side whose only shots on target found the net.

The home side had plenty of opportunities to score themselves but it was one of those days when their finishing power deserted them.

Desborough entertain Sleaford this Saturday and Spalding on Tuesday.

The reserves, who won 4-0 at Stewarts and Lloyds, travel to Harborough in the Supplementary Cup.
