Harborough Town welcome Holbeach to Bowdens Park on Saturday boosted by what boss Nick Pollard called “the best performance he’s seen” during his time at the club.
On Tuesday night, the Bees gave table-toppers Kirby Muxloe a scare at Bowdens Park.
Kirby snatched a 1-0 win and Pollard says his former club were lucky.
He said: “That was the best footballing performance I’ve seen from Harborough Town in my time at the club.
“It really was good to watch.
“We got the ball on the ground, knocked it around and created opportunities.
“For 90 minutes, the ball hardly left Kirby’s half, but we just couldn’t put the ball in the net.
“They only had two chances and took one of them.
“I felt we deserved so much more from the game. We were unfortunate not to get at least a draw.
“Kirby were hanging on at the end and relieved to hear the final whistle.
“I was gutted for the players, but we can take a lot of positives from the match.
“We had some fantastic compliments from supporters and the Kirby management afterwards.”
Last Saturday, Town were 3-0 winners at rock-bottom Huntingdon.
Victory was secured by second-half strikes from Joel Konteh, Jordan Crawford and Barnes Gladman and Pollard handed a debut to striker Alexis Alcindor.
Alcindor was recommended by Corby boss Tommy Wright and played for 75 minutes at Jubilee Park.
Pollard was “delighted” with his contribution and added: “We know Huntingdon are struggling, but to go away from home, score three goals and keep a clean sheet gives the players confidence.”
Town Reserves head to Rothwell Corinthians for a cup match on Saturday.
