Harborough Town want to rediscover goalscoring touch

Stuart Spencer believes Harborough Town have to concentrate on their own game if they are to get the better of Rothwell Corinthians.

While the Bees boss is full of admiration for Saturday’s visitors to the HTFC Community Ground, he knows victory could bring his side to within a point of 10th-placed Corinthians.

“The best way to prepare is to concentrate on ourselves,” said Spencer, who wants his side to return to winning ways following the weekend’s defeat at Rugby Town.

“Results-wise we’ve had an up and down, win and lose time recently. But that doesn’t reflect how we think we’ve been playing.

“We’ve been very good, just short of goals at the moment.”

Indeed, the Bees have netted just twice in their past six contests, both of those coming in the 2-0 victory over Oadby.

“We need to score more goals and we’re actively looking at that,” Spencer added.

“It’s not easy being mid-table and trying to get the best strikers in during the sesason.

“But we know we need to score more.”

In-form Corinthians sit 10th in the table, having won their past three matches, scoring 11 and conceding just once in that sequence.

Rothwell are having a really good season,” Spencer told The Mail.

Mitch Austin, their manager, has done a really good job and the top six could be in reach if they win their two or three games in hand.

“They deserve a lot of credit for what they’re doing this season, it’s no easy feat.

“It’s black and white. If they come to us and they’re on their game and we’re not they’ll beat us.

“If it’s the other way round we’ll beat them.

“We know we have the ability and we have to concentrate on our own performance.

“We’ve looked very good up until the 18 yard box, now we need to deliver more goals.

“I think the top six are a little bit better than everyone else but in the UCL, it doesn’t matter who you play - 15th, 16th - if you don’t turn up anyone is capable of beating you.”

Kick off will be at 3pm.
