Harborough Town boss Nick Pollard hopes to complete the signing of striker Barnes Gladman.
He netted twice for the Bees in their 4-3 win over Medbourne in their first pre-season friendly last week.
Gladman was top scorer for Lutterworth Athletic Reserves last season when they won Everards League Division One and made six first-team appearances in UCL Division One.
Pollard said: “Barnes looked very, very sharp on Saturday. He has lots of place and scored a lot of goals for Lutterworth reserves last season.
“He’s got competition from Danny Laywood at Lutterworth, but if we get the right service to him I’m sure he will score goals for us in the UCL next season.
“He took his goals very well last week and with the way Kev Byrne and Danny Wright play up front, it’s good to have a quick lad who can get in behind defences.”
Byrne and Billy Shepherd got first-half goals for the Bees against Medbourne and during the break, Pollard made six changes.
Medbourne fought back in the second half, but Gladman netted twice to secure victory for Harborough.
Pollard added: “We put a lot of work in and I was pleased.”
