Leicestershire’s largest youth festival, Supersonic Boom, returns on Wednesday for the 12th year in aid of the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.

As the school holidays come to a close, Oadby & Wigston Borough Council are making preparations for the 2015 Leicestershire youth festival which takes place at Blaby Road Park in South Wigston on Wednesday from 1pm to 5pm.

The event hopes to bring the community together with one ultimate aim; to raise money for a good cause.

Last year Supersonic Boom raised £414 for Wish4Kids and the Alzheimer’s Society and was the biggest event yet, with over 35 stalls and 10 performing acts. With around 2,000 expected to attend an even higher sum is predicted this year.

Mark Smith, young persons co-ordinator at Oadby and Wigston Borough Council, said: “The Youth Council organised Supersonic Boom for the first time last year which was a steep learning curve given the size of the event.

“Building on last years’ experience we expect Supersonic Boom 2015 to be a great success, smashing last year’s sum of money for charity DLRAA.”

This year’s Supersonic Boom features a musical line-up of local talent, including the likes of Chambers and Beauty and the Bass, who will provide entertainment throughout the event.

A variety of stalls from local businesses, services, charities and community groups will be there, plus fun activities, games and competitions.
