Where will you enjoy bonfire night this year?

Families across the Harborough and Lutterworth area will be out in force this weekend to mark Guy Fawkes Night at organised fireworks displays.

Guys will be hauled into place, bonfires will be lit and vast quantities of jacket potatoes and soup will be consumed. On this page we highlight many of the events planned in our area:


4 The Shoulder of Mutton at Foxton celebrate bonfire night tomorrow (Friday) night from 7pm with a fireworks fundraiser in aid of Gunley Cricket Club, the 1st Foxton Scouts and the village pre-school.

There will be barbecue and oriental food available and entertainment will include face painting and glow wands. Adults £4 and children £2.50.

4 A fireworks extravaganza with hot food and a licensed bar is being held tomorrow (Friday) night from 6.30pm at the Market Harborough RUFC ground in Northampton Road.

Family admission is £15 (two adults, two children) while other charges are: adults and over 14s £5, children £3.50, and toddlers under two go free.


4 Cash prizes for the best Guys are offered at a free-to-see fireworks display and bonfire party for the whole family at Great Oxenden on Saturday.

It takes place at Tunnel Ridge in Braybrooke Road. Food stalls will open at 6pm, then Guys will be judged at 6.45pm, with bonfire and fireworks to follow.

Organiser Rob Barker says admission is free but he asks for donations towards fireworks beforehand or on the night – call him on 01858 462404.

4 A family bonfire and fireworks event is being organised by St Joseph’s School PTA in the school’s Coventry Road playing fields in Harborough on Saturday.

Gates open at 6.30pm and admission charges are £5 for adults and £2 for children. Pre-school tots go free.

4 The Hallaton and Isabella Stenning Charity invite people to a bonfire night, bar and barbecue on Saturday, starting at 5.30pm on the Hallaton recreation ground in East Norton Road. A family ticket for two adults and two children costs £15, otherwise adult tickets are £5, under 16s £3 and under threes go free.

4 A charity bonfire night on Saturday at North Kilworth Sports Club will be raising money in memory of Jessica Chapman and all the other people that Loros has helped over the years.

4 Welland Valley Vintage Traction Club on Glebe Road, Harborough, will light their bonfire at 6pm on Saturday with fireworks later.

A small event open to members’ family and friends, the event will feature two steam rollers which will greet visitors at the gate.

4 Big crowds are expected at this year’s Loros Hospice Charity Fireworks Spectacular on Saturday at Mallory Park race track.

The Kirkby Mallory skies will be lit up by thousands of fireworks to captivate adults and children alike.

Free on-site parking will open at 5.30pm and tickets on the gate will cost £6 for adults (concessions £3).

As well as a huge bonfire and fireworks display there will be entertainment from singer Molly Smitten Downes, more than 100 stunt trucks to see, fairground stalls, food and a bar.

4 The Rainbows Festival of Fireworks will be held on Saturday at Leicester Racecourse, Oadby. Up to 10,000 people usually turn out for the event. Gates open at 5.30pm with a quieter children’s firework display then the main display gets underway at 8.15pm.
