Hundreds of residents in 11 villages are celebrating a deal which will see them get faster internet speeds in their rural area.
The Welland Valley Broadband Group, which was formed in late 2014, has been lobbying for ways to get better broadband.
And the group has turned to private firm Gigaclear after BT and County Hall were unable to include their villages in its Superfast Leicestershire broadband scheme.
Gigaclear’s fibre-to-the-premises broadband is to be installed in Blaston, Bringhurst, Cranoe, Drayton, Glooston, Hallaton, Horninghold, Medbourne, Nevill Holt, Slawston and Stockerston.
Martin Griffin, leader of the Welland Valley group, said: “We are delighted with the outcome, as Gigaclear provides our residents with a long-term strategic partner, offering the fastest broadband in the UK.”
