One of the grandest prizes in sport was on show in Market Harborough last Friday as hundreds of rugby fans turned out to catch a glimpse of the Webb Ellis trophy.
The cup was on show at the unlikely venue of the Spar shop in Coventry Road in town for nearly three hours on Friday from 7.30pm.
An estimated crowd of 300 people turned up throughout the night, with scores queuing up outside the store and braving the rain at times.
Rugby’s top prize was visiting the store as part of the Rugby World Cup’s promotional Trophy Tour, courtesy of event sponsor Heineken, and the cup is completing a 100-day tour of the UK and Ireland in the lead up to next month’s competition.
Tracy Wilson, the manager of the Spar shop in Coventry Road, said: “It was a great evening to share with so many of our customers and the local community.
“The atmosphere was fantastic and we are so pleased with the turn-out.
“We hope that everyone enjoyed the evening and got some great photos.”
