Patron Maggie Philbin led Voluntary Action South Leicestershire’s (VASL’s) celebration of volunteers last Thursday evening in Market Harborough.
She said: “I have to say I felt humbled by the spirit and compassion of the volunteers and amazed to hear both their stories and the people that they help.
“As patron, I welcomed the chance to showcase VASL’s work. If it had to be paid for by the local or county council, that would equate to a massive £323,000 and I hope that they will bear that in mind when thinking about funding VASL.
“I think one particular moment that touched me was the performance by The Carers Choir. Carers have little time for themselves and they put on a fantastic performance which they obviously enjoyed as much as we did.”
