The next community litter pick will take place on Saturday (May 9), 9.30am, starting from Our Lady of Victories Church Hall in Fairfield Road, Market Harborough, where there will also be free coffee and cakes, and stalls from various local groups. It is being organised by the town’s Love Where You Live and Work volunteer group.
The purchase of a new grappling hook by the Market Harborough environment groups Love Where You Live and Work litter has helped them dredge out a number of signs, bikes and shopping trollies from the river A recent purchase of a grappling hook has meant that items in the river can be more easily removed. The group has also been able to return building site signs and barriers to their owners and trolleys to supermarkets.
The group was delighted to discover that bikes rescued from the river can be recycled! Recovered bikes go to Rebike Youth Services charity at the William Fripp Youth Centre Kettering via George Hall Cycle Centre in Northampton Road. The
cycles are then refurbished or used as spares. Pictured are Chris Orme and Richard Taylor in grappling mode.
