Up and coming district actor lands role in Sondheim’s Into the Woods musical in city

A young actor from the district is set to make his mark in a new production in the city this month.

Fleckney’s Keir Barradell is performing in Stephen Sondheim musical Into the Woods at the newly-renovated Hansom Hall in Belvoir Street, Leicester, from this Tuesday, until Saturday, March 21.

The show, recently made into a Disney film, combines many of the Grimm fairy tales and Keir is playing the role of Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk.

The hall is being transformed into a woodland for the Leicester Theatre Group show.

Keir already has two roles in major Curve productions in the city to his name, as Angel in Rent in 2014 and Tobias in Sweeney Todd in 2013.

The 16-year-old is studying musical theatre at Leicester College and is a huge fan of Sondheim and actors Neil Patrick Harris and Michael C Hall.

Closer to home, he appeared as Freidrich in the Sound of Music at Kilworth House Theatre in 2012.

He hopes to pursue a career in musical theatre.

Tickets cost £5 to £12.50 and are available from website www.leicestertheatregroup.co.uk or on 07500 900 737.
