A tree surgeon was taken to hospital by air ambulance after he fell 30 feet out of a tree in a village near Market Harborough.

The workman was working in the grounds of St Helen’s Church in Sibbertoft when he suddenly crashed to the ground.

Firefighters from Market Harborough and ambulance crews raced to the incident at about 1.30pm on Monday (August 3).

The victim, who’s believed to be local, received urgent treatment on the spot before being flown to the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire by an air ambulance.

The man, who was conscious, isn’t thought to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

Firefighters recovered his equipment, including a chainsaw, from the tree before leaving the scene at about 2pm.
