Lutterworth saw an historic moment when the town’s two largest schools played out their first ever football match.

The fixture, between Lutterworth High School and Lutterworth College Year 10 boys’ teams, ended in a victory for the High School side.

Lutterworth High School assistant headteacher Dick Salter said: “In the early stages of a keenly fought contest there was little between the teams.

“However, a break and shot by Frank Goodyear led to the High School taking the lead. The College responded well and quickly equalised.

“However, excellent counter attacking play by the High School saw two further excellent goals for Frank Goodyear and Bayley Moss in the first half.

“After the Break the High School midfield and defence prevented the College from gaining control of the game. Goals from Frank Goodyear, to complete his hat trick, and Zach Staton meant that, in the end, the High School ran out as clear victors.”
