Three large posters advertising a community event linked to a village sports club have been stolen.
he posters - measuring about four feet by two feet - were put up around Medbourne to publicise a dinner dance in November.
The dance will raise money for Medbourne’s well-used and popular sports club in Hallaton Road.
But one of the dinner dance organisers, also Medbourne area councillor, Michael Rickman, said: “So far three of our banners have disappeared
“Why someone actually thought they could take them down, I don’t know. It’s absolutely reprehensible.
“The dinner dance will be raising money for Medbourne Sports Club, which is an excellent facility for anyone who lives in the area.”
The dinner dance is at Ashley Corner, Ashley on Saturday, November 28, and will feature a Rod Stewart tribute act and a disco.
Tickets are £40 per person, to include a two-course meal.
“Some of the banners disappeared within a week” said Mr Rickman. “I’ve no idea why someone should be trying to sabotage this event.
“Perhaps someone thought the banners were an offence to the countryside, or distracting for drivers. Maybe someone is holding a rival event. We just don’t know.”
A small group of local people have been raising money for Medbourne Sports Club for more than a decade, to make the club one of the best multi-sports facilities in rural Leicestershire.
So far more than £200,000 has been raised in donations and grants.
The project just need another £20,000 to £25,000 to be completely finished, Mr Rickman said.
If you want to buy tickets for the dinner dance, you can contact one of the organisers - Mr Rickman on 01858 565377, Gayle Jones on 01858 565430 or Debbie Burrows on 565728.
