A Gothic dance version of the classic fairytale Sleeping Beauty is being performed by students in Lutterworth next month.

The cast will be from the college’s own dance company, Tripudio, made up of post-16 dance students.

The family-friendly piece is at Lutterworth College Theatre on Thursday, May 5 at 7.30pm.

Ticket from the college are £7 for adults , £5 for children up to 18 and the over 60s.

The piece includes a range of dance styles, all with an exciting Gothic twist.

The college’s lead teacher for dance, Faye Horton, said this original adaption starts in 1890, as the King and Queen are given baby Aurora by the vampire witch Carabosse.

But the royal couple fail to show their gratitude to Carabosse who puts a revenge plan in place, putting Aurora to sleep. Awakening from her slumber a century later, Aurora finds herself in the modern day; a world more mysterious than any fairy story!
