Organisers of this year’s Lutterworth Santa Fun Run are thrilled at topping 1,000 participants for the first time.
A total of 1,004 Santa-clad runners took part in the Lutterworth Wycliffe and Lutterworth Rotary Clubs’ event on Sunday.
Peter Osborn, speaking on behalf of the clubs, said: “Thank you to all those who supported the event – both athletes and supporters for making our dream come true. Age did not hinder those who took part as we had our youngest of just two weeks’ old – Sonny Rhodes from Ullesthorpe – and our eldest being 92 – Seppy Brown from Hazeland Court, Lutterworth.”
The fun run has so far raised £67,000 since it was first introduced six years ago.
Mr Osborn added: “It has become a major event in the town’s calendar.
“This could never have happened without the generosity of organisations and businesses that expect nothing in return other than the feelgood factor of helping others.”
