Maidwell’s village hall is being turning into a theatre for two nights next month to present new comedy musical Liberty Rides Forth.
Penned by Maidwell writer, actor and singer David Kent, the show revolves around an author whose latest creation comes alive – and causes mayhem.
It has catchy songs and fast-paced humour, and stars Jonathan Barnes and Dereck Walker.
Dereck was last seen on stage in Market Harborough alongside David for the pair’s Christmas show, Uglies Do Harborough.
Liberty Rides Forth was originally performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last year under the title, The Next Big Thing.
And after its date in the Loder Hall in Maidwell, the show will be heading to the prestigious Brighton Fringe festival in May.
Market Harborough resident Jonathan said: “It’s wonderful to be able to preview the show locally.
“As a professional actor, a lot of my work happens in London, so it’s great to be supporting a local production of this quality.”
David and Dereck are both graduates of The London School of Musical Theatre.
Market Harborough theatre-goers may remember the duo’s hilarious Uglies Do Harborough show at Harborough Theatre from December 2011.
There will be two performances at Maidwell from 7.30pm on Friday, March 13, and Saturday, March 14.
Tickets, priced £6 are available from website www.davidkent.ticketsource.co.uk. Any unsold in advance can be bought on the door.
The Stag’s Head pub in Harborough Road, Maidwell, is supporting the production by offering an exclusive pre-theatre menu for £11 on both nights. Table reservations can be made by calling the pub on 01604 686700.
The show is also being staged in a matinee at Open Stage in Abington, Northampton, at 3pm on Sunday, March 15.
