One lucky shopper is having an extra special Christmas thanks to generous traders at Harborough Market.
Over the past three weeks people have been voting for their best-dressed Christmas stall at the market, and last Friday lucky winner Denise Beck, of Brixworth, was selected at random, winning more than £200 of prizes and vouchers to spend at the market.
The bumper prize package included a celebration cake, fruit basket, a table arrangement, books, DVDs, CDs, a sewing basket, men’s clothes, fish and chip lunch, breakfast at the café, 5lb of mince, a pillow and duvet, as well as £170 in gift vouchers.
“I’m still in shock,” Denise said. “My husband Dave and I are both in our 70s and have never won anything! I still can’t believe it.”
The award for best-dressed stall was won by Sue’s Cheese Stall. Sue Birch, (pictured left) giving Denise a fruit basket from Boyd’s of Leicester and vouchers, was thrilled to have won, and said: “I love how Christmassy the stall looks and it’s really nice to know shoppers thought so too,” said Sue.
The market is open every day between now and the New Year, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
