Two inspiring Scout leaders from the Harborough district have been presented with awards for their conscientious, imaginative and dedicated work over the last 12 years.
Tracey Coates and Toby Taylor have received the Scouting Association’s Award of Merit.
Tracey, a keen camper, stacked up the most Scout nights away of all leaders in the district over 2014 including many lightweight expeditions for Explorers to achieve their Duke of Edinburgh Awards. She has recently stepped into the role of District Scout Network Commissioner and is now helping 18-25 year old Network Scouts to continue their adventure with social action projects such as A Million Hands.
Last August, Toby led a contingent of explorers to the World Scout Jamboree in Japan and has now stepped into the role of District Explorer Scout Commissioner to fuel the local units with his enthusiasm for international adventure and making a positive impact in the community.
Toby said: “Scouting is fun. I am honoured to have been recognised in this way for doing things I have really enjoyed. It has been a life changing part of my life.”
