Runners will chase the yeti at Avalanche Run

The Avalanche Run was held for the first time just a few years ago and since then has become a hugely popular annual event.

The off-road obstacle running event will be held at Wrongs Farm in Welford Road, Sibbertoft.

A unique feature of the event is that one of the runners is dressed as a yeti, and competitors have to try their best to catch up with him.

Runners will start the race in a pen, with the yeti given a head start. They will then be released to chase the mythical Himalayan ape-man across challenging terrain.

In their quest to catch the yeti, runners will brave the cold as they run either 5km, 10km or 20km. Obstacles they will need to overcome include scramble nets, wooden walls, tyre climbs, tunnels and freezing cold water obstacles.

Organisers say the course has had input from military personnel, including special forces and Army physical training instructors
