A Harborough girl whose parents were both diagnosed with cancer has been inspired to run the London Marathon to raise money for charity.

Bryony Parker has been in training for five months for the event, which takes place on April 24.

Her mum Ruth is fighting breast cancer, while her dad Chris has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and as a result Bryony is raising money for Cancer Research UK. Her mum was originally diagnosed with cancer ten years ago, and after initially receiving the all-clear discovered the illness had returned last year. Her dad was diagnosed in 2014.

Bryony has raised more than £600. She is boosting her total by opening the cafe at Harborough Theatre this Saturday (March 19) from 9.30am-1.30pm, which is usually run by her mum Ruth.
