Rotarian John is awarded the organisation’s highest honour

A dedicated Lutterworth Rotarian has been awarded the organisation’s highest honour.

John Turner, last year’s Lutterworth Rotary Club president and organiser of the hugely successful Santa Fun Run, was presented with the Paul Harris Fellowship by the club’s assistant district governor John Saunders last month.

Mr Turner joined the town club in August 2009 and has taken on a host of responsibilities ever since.

While being very modest about the talent and wealth of experience he brings from his time as a teacher at Lutterworth Grammar School, Mr Turner has masterminded the club’s annual Big Bike Ride – being a keen cyclist himself – raising some £8,600 in three years for charity.

He is also largely responsible for the success of the club’s annual Santa Fun Run.

Peter Osborn, from the town club, said: “It is largely due to John’s reliability in getting things done that the fun run has been such a success.

“He is a very worthy recipient of the fellowship.”
