Students at Robert Smyth Academy in Market Harborough are celebrating after achieving an excellent set of A-level results.

The pass rate was 97 per cent, with a quarter of all results being either A*s or As and a half being graded from A* to B.

Four students earned places in Oxbridge and seven gained at least three A* grades. Particularly outstanding students included Liam Hughes, who achieved five A*s and one A and will go to read mathematics at Trinity College, Cambridge.

Additionally, Alex Ball earned four A*s and will study economics at Jesus College, Cambridge.

Robert Smyth’s principal, Sue Jones said: “We are, once again, absolutely delighted by such an excellent set of A Level results.

“Students and staff have worked incredibly hard to achieve these results and it is so rewarding to see this pay off.

“With A Level results such as this, our students can now look forward to beginning the next, exciting stage of their lives at their university of choice.

“I would like to congratulate all our students on their success.”
