Events will be held this weekend to mark Remembrance Sunday.

The day will start with a civic service at St Dionysius Parish Church at 10am. Lady Gretton, HM’s Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire, will be in attendance. Members of the Royal British Legion and other ex-service organisations, the local cadet units and other uniformed youth associations will parade to the service from the Commons car park. After the church service, there will be an Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial in The Square at 10.55am, with the national two minutes silence observed at 11am. Following this, wreaths will be laid at the War Memorial.

On the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice, which brought WW1 to a close in 1918, there is an Act of Remembrance around the Memorial Gates in The Square at 10.55am on Wednesday November 11. Maroons will be fired at 11am to mark the start and the end of the two minutes silence.
