The thrilling sight – and sounds – of The Red Arrows soaring overhead made for the perfect accompaniment to a family fun day in the Market Harborough area.
A flypast from the aerobatics display team of the Royal Air Force took place in Little Bowden on Saturday afternoon.
The fun day was held in and around St Nicholas Church Hall, on The Green, and was organised by Nicky Woodbridge Fundraising.
The group was set up in memory of popular Harborough woman Nicky, who died in 2010 from breast cancer.
She was a keen sportswoman who especially loved rounders and played for the Arthingworth Ladies’ team which now has a pink first-post in her memory.
Daughter Emily Woodbridge said: “It was a great success. We had a fantastic turnout and everyone had lots of fun in the sunshine.
“The Red Arrows topped off a perfect day and the families were so excited to wave and cheer them as they flew over with their smoke on.
“We are still receiving donations but we are somewhere in the region of £700, which is a great amount for Cancer Research UK.”
Activities included children’s entertainment, various stalls and refreshments.
Next up for the group is a live music night at the town’s rugby club on August 28.
