Rail issues can be raised at meeting

Anyone who cares about train services in Harborough is invited to attend the annual meeting of the Harborough Rail Users group next week.

It is an independent voluntary body that seeks to represent users of the town’s station, whether commuters or occasional travellers.

The meeting is at Market Harborough Congregational Church Centre, in Bowden Lane, at 8pm on Tuesday.

As well as electing officers for the coming year, the meeting will consider topics such as East Midlands Trains’ direct award franchise, investment in the train line at Harborough and the continuing need to upgrade the station platforms to meet modern standards of accessibility.

Steve Jones, from the group, said: “Anyone who cares about the local rail service, timetables, quality, reliability, fares, access or quality of facilities is invited to come along and get involved.”
