Extracting DNA, creating lava lamps and making towers from marshmallows were some of the experiments on offer at Leicester Grammar School’s inaugural Big Bang Science Fair.

Over 800 primary school pupils, students and members of the public were given the opportunity to become scientists for the day with a selection of hands-on experiments involving science, technology, engineering and maths.

James Rich, deputy headteacher of Leicester Grammar School, said “We want all children wherever they study, to truly enjoy the sciences and actively engage with them, so it was great to see so many children and adults deriving so much enjoyment from the event.”
