The authority’s Cabinet has agreed that the former allotment site at De Verdon Road, Lutterworth, should be put up for sale.

Harborough council said it is “refocusing its priorities in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic” and won’t now plough ahead with the housing blueprint.

Councillors said the site would be sold on the open market once a decision on planning consent for the development is made.

The Cabinet also said they will carry out archaeology works on the land if planning consent is granted.
