Phone stolen in street robbery

An iPhone and a packet of cigarettes were stolen from a man in Harborough town centre in a street robbery on Sunday night.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said the victim was walking along Springfield Street at about 10.10pm when he was approached by another man who “verbally threatened him”.

An incident is classified as a robbery if a threat of force is used, even if no assault took place. Police said no weapon was seen during the incident.

The suspect is described as a thin, white male, aged 20 to 30, and was wearing a dark beanie hat, dark jumper and dark jeans. Witnesses are urged to call the investigating officer, PC 998 Peter Waterfield, on 101.
