Members of the Market Harborough Round Table have been helping front line workers in the area.

The group recently bought a large amount of moisturising hand creams and donated them to local care homes in Market Harborough and Desborough.

A spokesperson for the Round Table said: "The care workers are doing an amazing job in difficult conditions, and with constant hand washing and using drying hand sanitisers, we thought a little treat for their hands would be welcomed.

"Thanks also to Aaron Shrive and Tom Barwick (both Market Harborough residents), we have also distributed some face shields that they have kindly manufactured and donated."

The group has also donated to Harborough Anti Bullying, which will be used to provide a set of counselling sessions to a service user.

And it recently supported Ian's Chain - a local charity based in Desborough who help and support those who have lost a loved one to suicide.

A spokesperson said: "We have also made a cash donation to Desborough Town Welfare Committee. We understand that the money will be used to purchase PPE (gloves, hand sanitisers, etc) for the wonderful volunteers who are assisting local elderly and vulnerable residents with shopping, collecting prescriptions, etc.

"In addition, along with some visors, we also donated two wheelchairs to The Willows to enable some of the less mobile residents to be able to access their garden area during lockdown.

"Market Harborough Round Table would also like to say a big 'thank you' to the residents of Market Harborough and Desborough.

"It is the generosity of the residents making their donations whilst we are helping Santa with his sleigh around Desborough and outside Sainsbury's in Market Harborough that enable us to make our contributions to to wonderful local charities that we have in the area."

Once the lockdown is over, the group is hoping to start social events again but in the meantime will be organising meetings via video calls online.
