A huge convoy saluting our frontline NHS heroes made a return to Harborough on Thursday night after a two-week gap.

The stream of over 30 trucks, vans and tractors poured through Market Harborough, Lubenham and Marston Trussell on a balmy evening between 8pm and 9pm.

Hundreds of men, women and children came out to cheer and clap as the stunning cavalcade hooted and tooted their way past thousands of homes.

“This was the fourth time we have done this in Harborough and it was one of the best yet.

“It’s just so fantastic to see so many people come out to applaud us as we pay tribute to the NHS and critical workers right across the board,” said Adam.

“One of the best things is just seeing the dazzling smiles on the kids’ faces.

“It’s tough for them as they are still locked down.

“It means the world to them to see us steam on past – and it means everything to us to see how much pleasure and joy we bring on the night.”

The big-hearted dad-of-three said NHS workers clapped them as they filed past St Luke’s Hospital on Leicester Road, Market Harborough, at the start of the 60-minute tour.

And police officers, firefighters and ambulance staff gave them a wave and a cheer as they thundered past their stations on Fairfield Road.

“We drove along Western Avenue and Bath Street on Harborough’s Southern Estate this time and the response there was simply magnificent.

“The streets were jampacked with people,” said Adam.

“We didn’t turn out last week.

“But we must have had up to 500 heartfelt messages from local people between us asking us to stage another convoy.

“I’m not sure what we’ll do next week, we’ll play it by ear.

“But it is just incredible to feel so much love out there as we show our gratitude and admiration for our brilliant NHS heroes.

“We would just like to say a massive thank you to every one of you who turned out to greet and cheer us.

“You really do make it so special – and we’ll never forget it.”

Adam said HAB-Antibullying and Harborough’s Jubilee Foodbank also took part in Thursday night’s riproaring parade.

The convoy organisers are committed to raising cash to support the foodbank as it battles to combat the devastating Covid-19 crisis and have already totted up £930 after smashing their £500 target.
