Video: Otters seen in the River Welland

OTTERS can be seen scampering on the frozen River Welland in this footage captured by the Mail.

One of them plays with a beer bottle in the video, shot near the Northampton Road bridge in Harborough at about 5.30pm on Tuesday night (January 17).

The Mail saw at least three otters at the river.

One submerged itself before reappearing about twenty metres upstream after cracking through the ice.

They are not the first otters to hit the headlines in Harborough.

In August 2008 Susan Dilks caught an otter on camera in the back garden of her Gartree home.

And later that month Stuart James of The Woodlands complained about the otter he believed was eating all the fish out of his pond.
