Two brilliant young Market Harborough brothers are celebrating becoming best-selling authors on Amazon.

Michael Colan, 10, and his younger sibling Blake, seven, have both got a fantastic story to tell after scaling the literary heights.

The bright boys, who both attend St Joseph’s Catholic Voluntary Academy on Coventry Road, are delighted after writing sections each for the book ‘Kindness’ from the Child Author Project.

And Michael is now a double “#1 Amazon Best Selling Author” after ‘Happiness’ became a best seller last year.

Their elated mum Julie Colan, 41, of Northleigh Grove, Market Harborough, said: “I’m very proud of the two boys, along with my husband Garth.

“It’s a fantastic achievement.

“Both Michael and Blake love to write and they are both showing fantastic promise.”

She said the Child Author Project is a mission founded by high-profile mental health advocate and mum, Jessica Prime.

Jessica wants to “empower children to realise how incredible they are whilst opening the door for conversations about mental health and emotion”.

“Blake wrote that being kind to his schoolmates makes him happy and makes them smile,” said Julie, who runs successful pelvic floor exerciser kit business Secret Whispers.

“Michael said that you have to help people who need it.

“He also said that if you are kind to others they will be kind back to you.”

She said that being launched in 2019, Child Author Project has enabled 254 children aged 3-15 to become #1 best-selling authors.

“The Kindness child authors are from all over the world.

“They come from countries such as the UK, USA, Australia, Pakistan, Denmark, Canada, Panama, Austria, Italy and the Netherlands.

“The ‘Kindness’ book was a follow-up to the #1 bestseller ‘Happiness’.

“Kindness was launched at the end of April.

“Within 24 hours it had reached #1 in various categories in the UK charts.

“It even hit #1 in the Australian charts, sitting amongst many famous authors - including many of the children's favourites!

“What a wonderful achievement for young kids to be a part of.”

She said Michael and Blake both donate a third of their £3-a-week pocket money to Harborough’s Jubilee Foodbank.

“Michael’s also designing and selling his own T-shirts online and giving some of his proceeds to charity,” said Julie.

“The two boys understand the importance of helping to look after others and we are very proud of them.”
