The Mingle & Jingle event at Welland Park Academy raised £500 last Wednesday night as shoppers poured through the doors.

Nicki Burgess, PA to principal Julie McBrearty, said: “We had a really good turn out and a lovely evening was had by everyone.

“The Prom Committee raised £500 and the other school groups Elm House, Birch House, Fairtrade Committee and the Borneo World Challenge also had a successful time of it.”

The festive special featured books, fairy dresses, Christmas decorations, crafts, mulled wine, toys and much more.

“I’m thrilled for our students because they invested so much work, time and enthusiasm into setting this up,” said Nicki.

“They’ve done a brilliant job and they are delighted with how many local people came along to support the school.

“The whole night went so well that this is definitely something we will run again.”
