This is the new logo to help highlight the ongoing mission of churches in Market Harborough

Churches Together in Harborough (CTH) has an intriguing new logo to highlight the people who make them up rather than the buildings.

The new image has been masterminded by Debbie Cortese, a member of St Peter and St Paul Church, Great Bowden, of Kettering-based Core Publications Ltd.

The churches said it reflects the unity, vibrancy and ongoing mission of churches of all denominations.

The old logo showed a version of the World Council of Churches symbol and a painting of the Old Grammar School by local artist Mikki Longley.

CTH Communications Officer Derek Williams said: “The previous logo served us well for a number of years.

“But an image needs to reflect the developing values of an organisation.

“The Christian churches are not primarily about places or buildings, but about the people who share in and benefit from their widely different activities.

“Many of our member churches and affiliated organisations are growing.

“They are developing imaginative ways of serving not only their own members but also the wider community.”

He added: “An image of joyful people linked together and focused on the cross, the central symbol of Christian faith, expresses the shared ethos that binds us together and overshadows our differences of emphasis and administrative structure.

“The direction of the banner reminds us that we are not static but ever moving forward under the guidance of God.”
