A Market Harborough teenager is ecstatic to be competing for Leicestershire in the prestigious Miss Teen British Isles final.

Amber Lewis, 16, has the chance of carrying off the coveted national crown for her home county.

She’s now striving to raise £250 in sponsorship from local businesses in a bid to pay her entry fee.

Thrilled Amber, who lives in Market Harborough, said: “I’m over the moon to have been chosen the county as Miss Teen Leicestershire 2020.

“It was a very big shock – I couldn’t believe it!

“There are only a handful of contestants taking part in this tournament final from all over the UK.

“So it’s a really big honour and I can’t wait to compete.”

The talented teenager, who has just left Welland Park Academy, said she has been picked out as her profile was on the StarNow acting and modelling app.

“I’m in with a real chance of winning – and that could lead to some very exciting opportunities.

“I could land a modelling and promotions contract and a fantastic photo-shoot in Marbella in Spain,” said Amber.

“I’ll have to put my best foot forward in a key cat walk show in front of a panel of judges in the final in a hotel in Chester at the end of September.

“So it will be tough but very exciting at the same time.

“At the moment I’m planning to do a bakery course at Moulton College.

“But in the long term I’d love to launch my own modelling career.”

Her mum Donna Lewis, 45, said: “We are all so delighted and excited for Amber – she deserves her shot at this.

“We are all very proud of her.

“This has come out of the blue – but we’re all backing her now to go all the way.”

The mum-of-three, who works at a Market Harborough nursery, added: “This has come as a massive boost to Amber.

“She’s already done ever so well to be picked out of so many attractive teenage girls all over Leicestershire.

“We are just hoping now that one or two local businesses in and around Market Harborough will sponsor Amber.

“Amber has her heart set on doing more modelling and acting work.

“And now that she will be competing in the Miss Teen British Isles final 2020 the world really could turn out to be her oyster.”
