“The children have chosen from either Mrs Douglas’s legendary curry or her mouth-watering chilli.

Volunteers from the school will be cooking up the meals the day before in preparation for Friday’s feast,” said a school spokeswoman.

“As if that wasn’t enough, the staff will be hand-delivering the meals in fancy dress to brighten up the children’s day while following guidance on social distancing.

“There is a real buzz of excitement around the team.

“They can’t wait to see the children’s smiling faces as they make their rounds and spread a bit of cheer in these difficult times.”

The school is also keeping its foodbank open to provide food to families who need it during the Covid-19 shutdown.

Headteacher Emma Tayler said: “With our children always at the forefront of our minds, we wanted to do something for them and also their families.

“So we decide a meal being delivered would not only help our families but also let them know that we are thinking about them.”

She added: “And, of course, we wanted to make them smile and have a laugh, even if it is at our expense!"

The scool, rated Good by Ofsted in 2019, still has some limited spaces available in some year groups.
