A Market Harborough school is serving up a Friday feast this week for an astonishing 120 families.
Market Harborough C of E Academy (part of Learn Academies Trust) wants to show its impressive ongoing support for its school community.
Staff from the Fairfield Road school will be delivering mouthwatering meals to 120 school families, over 400 portions of food, free of charge, on Friday May 15.
“The children have chosen from either Mrs Douglas’s legendary curry or her mouth-watering chilli.
“Volunteers from the school will be cooking up the meals the day before in preparation for Friday’s feast,” said a school spokeswoman.
“As if that wasn’t enough, the staff will be hand-delivering the meals in fancy dress to brighten up the children’s day while following guidance on social distancing.
“There is a real buzz of excitement around the team.
“They can’t wait to see the children’s smiling faces as they make their rounds and spread a bit of cheer in these difficult times.”
The school is also keeping its foodbank open to provide food to families who need it during the Covid-19 shutdown.
Headteacher Emma Tayler said: “With our children always at the forefront of our minds, we wanted to do something for them and also their families.
“So we decide a meal being delivered would not only help our families but also let them know that we are thinking about them.”
She added: “And, of course, we wanted to make them smile and have a laugh, even if it is at our expense!"
The scool, rated Good by Ofsted in 2019, still has some limited spaces available in some year groups.
