Harborough family chosen to be the official ambassadors for Alton Towers

The Blake family from the Harborough district love a white knuckle ride.

In fact, they love it so much they’ve become official ambassadors for top UK theme park Alton Towers.

The family, from Husbands Bosworth, came first in a national search for the UK’s first Alton Towers Resort official family ambassadors.

They’re regular theme park visitors, but what gave them the edge was 17-year-old daughter Ruby’s blog about her experience at the resort.

The competition saw the family beat hundreds of entries to win unlimited free Alton Towers entry this summer, an overnight stay and a meal in the new Rollercoaster Restaurant.

They’ll continue to share their experience in a blog and ‘vlog’ with others each time they visit, to provide guests with an informative and fun insight.

Mum Velda Blake said: “We feel very lucky.

“Our family are theme park crazy - we go to at least six theme parks a year - so winning the recent Alton Towers competition to become the Alton Towers family ambassadors was a dream come true for us!

“We can’t wait to start blogging and vlogging for Alton Towers #TowersTastic!”

The family of five also includes dad Steven, son Jordan (19) and youngest daughter Stella (nine).

“I tend to sit back and watch a bit more now, and look after the bags” admitted Velda.

“But everyone else heads straight for the big rides. My youngest daughter Stella is totally fearless.”

The family has been to theme parks in the US and Europe, but always heads back to the “great atmosphere and big rides” of Alton Towers.
