Big-hearted bands across Harborough have put out a new album to raise cash to fight cancer.

Made up of 13 original tracks by local musicians and singer/songwriters, the record is being released on Saturday April 25.

And all proceeds generated by the album will be handed over to Pancreatic UK, a charity helping to fight deadly pancreatic cancer.

Called IMBY (In My Back Yard) Vol 1, the new release has been inspired by friends of Andy Nourish - who sadly died five years ago.

Andy became well known throughout Harborough as he played in popular bands and was a stalwart of the local music scene.

The 13 tracks are all originals and have been donated to the IMBY charity album.

They are an eclectic mix of musical styles and genres.

The album’s been “kindly mastered” by Brickwork Studios, based at Symington Recreation Ground on St Mary’s Road, Market Harborough.

Some of the tunes are from well-established local bands while others have been written and laid down by emerging talent.

The charity record was to be launched at a special live event on Saturday.

But it’s had to be shelved for now amid the coronavirus lockdown.

Thrilled Trevor O’Malley, who collated and designed the album, said: “IMBY Vol 1 has really sparked an interest in local musicians.

“I want to thank all of them who have donated their time and fine music to this album.”

He added: “It just goes to show - you never know what you may find in your own backyard!

“Although the live event is not going ahead for the time being, I am pleased to announce our album is now officially launched.”

You can snap up the CD for £5 by contacting Trevor on [email protected]

The album’s also available on all the major download platforms by searching IMBY Vo1.
